CRC Tier I in Aquatic Ecosystem Science and Sustainability
Our research aims to quantify how aquatic ecosystem functioning responds to different drivers in a changing world. More specifically we focus on the biogeochemical cycling of nitrogen, phosphorus, and carbon, and characterize how plants, organisms, human activities and climate in different landscape settings alter the stocks and flows of these elements and influence overall water quality. Ultimately, our work intends to provide guidance by understanding different control points of biogeochemical activity for the long term protection of aquatic ecosystems and the ecosystems services they provide.
